Louis Emmitt-Stern won the Tony Craze Award for his debut play SLIPPERY. It is currently in development for a full production. His second play I FUCKED YOU IN MY SPACESHIP received a critically acclaimed sold-out premiere at VAULT Festival 2023, winning the Origins Award for Outstanding New Work. It subsequently transferred to Soho Theatre, London. Louis was called "a rising star playwright" by Time Out. The play is published by Nick Hern Books. A new Australian production will premiere in Melbourne in October 2024.
His other work has been performed at Watford Palace Theatre, The Pleasance Theatre Islington, LAMDA, Ivy Arts Centre, and supported by Farnham Maltings. He is an alumnus of Soho Theatre Writers Lab, Soho Writers Alumni Group, National Theatre Young Writers Program, and Young Lyric Directors Course at Lyric Hammersmith. In 2023, Louis received a HM Government of Gibraltar Cultural Services Award for Special Achievement, recognising his contribution to Gibraltarian theatre and his work with young people in the arts. As a facilitator, he has run workshops for the Battersea Arts Centre, Northcott Theatre Exeter, Omnibus Theatre Clapham, Soho Theatre, and Royal Holloway.
Louis is currently on attachment to Oxford Playhouse, and under commission at the Oxford School of Drama. He is adapting Jane Austen’s MANSFIELD PARK for Guildford School of Acting and Jane Austen’s House, as well as developing his debut TV pilot. His latest play SNAKES AND LADDERS premiere at The Large at Southwark Playhouse in August 2024. He is a mentor on the MA/MFA Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
