Bronagh Lagan

I am a working-class, queer, female director from Northern Ireland. Who has been living and working in London as a freelance director for the past ten years.

I recently directed the Olivier-nominated CRUISE which had a sell-out run at The Apollo theatre last year in London’s West End.

I directed a revised an reimagined production of Rags, the musical by Charles Strouse and Stephen Schwartz at The Park Theatre, in London. The production received nine Off West End Award nominations including Best Director and Best Production. I worked closely with Stephen Schwartz in curating a cast album of my production which is available on iTunes and Spotify.

Other credits include: A regional tour of THE RISE AND FALL OF LITTLE VOICE starring Christina Bianco; PORTIA COUGHLAN by Marina Carr, LITTLE WOMEN, THE MUSICAL and BROKEN WINGS, THE MUSICAL which toured internationally.

In addition to directing last year, I was also Associate Director on SAVING GRACE new British musical written by April De Angelis & KT Tunstall and directed by Laurence Connor. I am also a part of the From Page To Stage Literary department for Aria Entertainment.

In 2006 I was elected Young Persons Theatre Representative of Britain through the Contacting The World Festival and travelled to the Philippines as part of a cultural exchange aimed at promoting cross-cultural collaborations. I have travelled worldwide with my theatre productions and often draws on my cultural experiences to influence my work.

I am most passionate about new writing and theatre as a power for change.
