Lizzie Manwaring

Director Dramaturg Facilitator

she/her

Hi! I'm a British/American theatre director who grew up in Germany. I was Resident Assistant Director at Hampstead Theatre from 2019-2020 as part of my training on Birkbeck's MFA in Theatre Directing. 'Bible John' by Caitlin McEwan was awarded the Pleasance's Charlie Hartill Reserve Fund in 2019.

I enjoy working with writers and new writing as well as re-inventing classics for today, especially when the work champions stories of and by women.

I love theatre which grips and entertains an audience, tells a thrilling story which is full of heart, is urgent in its message and doesn’t shy away from celebrating theatricality. I also love theatre which is as rigorous, bold and inventive with its visual dramaturgy as it is with text.
