Elizabeth Malnar

Director

I am a director and performance maker whose current research interests lie in the field of ritual, ethics of care, memory, and trauma studies. I am interested in exploring empathy and looking at new ways of being together and being in the moment, encouraging care, and generating healing conversations. As an immigrant, sharing the experiences of migration as well as negotiating and articulating the questions of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’ has become central in an increasingly alienating world.

I also have a great passion for classical music and opera, and I am interested in expanding the boundaries of the form, making it more relevant in political and social terms, and more receptive to influence from new theatre theory and contemporary art.
