Director Writer-Performer Dramaturg Acting Tutor Somatic movement for healing

I am an emerging theatre maker, director with a passion for dramaturgy. I have a background in journalism.
Thematically, areas of interest include identity & belonging, sex as in desire and sensuality through the lens of age and race - its politics and the subject of masculinity.
I come from generations of migratory people and have lived in 7 countries since birth which has cemented my interest in how we make home and belong.

SCRIPT/DRAMATURGY EXPERIENCE
• Script Mentor for winning recipient of the James Ene Henshaw Foundation Playwrighting competition, ongoing reporting to Trustee James Henshaw – reading drafts and providing one to one feedback on zoom centred around guiding the writing to tighten points of tension in character relationships and solidify the larger story arc, providing areas to focus on for rewrites, as the playwright has no experience of stage work sharing resources and skills such as tackling an outline, sharing play extracts and when possible clips of performances to show content and form
• Script reader for The Space theatre's scriptspace submissions, 2021 for Artistic Director Adam Hemming – reading and writing a report which entails feedback solely for the writer and then feedback suggesting further action based on the building’s own marking system (e.g. progress to being staged or requires further work)
• Script reader for the Literary Manager Suzanne Bell of Royal Exchange, 2021 reading and writing a report which entails feedback for the writer and suggesting further action for the Literary Manager based on the building’s own marking system (e.g. progress to being staged or requires further work)
• Dramaturgical support to ACE funded play Lisa & Luca by Selina Armoudon, 2021 - reading the draft and providing one to one feedback on a call, followed by sending written feedback incorporating the conversation on the call, because the writer is a performer discussed form that could enhance this aspect
• Dramaturgical support for recipients of Tamasha Theatre's bitesize playwrighting competition, 2021 reporting to Artistic Director Fin Kennedy - reading and writing a report which entails feedback for the writer and suggesting to the building which playwrights should receive mentoring. Mentoring for 5 plays over 2-3 one to one sessions on zoom which included reading drafts and suggesting how to strengthen the draft for final submission
• Leading from concept to writing process for Thematic Theatre working with co-Founders Darrel Draper & Laura Shoebottom, in progress 2020 – as the process began with no text, suggesting writing exercises based on themes emerging from discussions with the playwright, assigning tasks such as writing a monologue from a character’s perspective, setting up prompt questions to stimulate writing explorations
