Kay Brattan

Director Dramaturg Actor Playwright Sound Designer

I’m a Canadian theatre maker currently based in London. My preferred pronouns are she/her.

Before coming to the UK, I was living in Toronto and working in the fringe scene as an actor, stage manager, and director. I graduated Humber College’s Theatre Performance programme in 2011 and then spent the last decade trying to figure out my place in theatre land. I directed and adapted my first show in 2017 for the Toronto Fringe, which was a burlesque adaptation of Lysistrata, and since then haven’t stopped directing.

I’m into classical theatre that focuses on the experiences of women/reimagined classical text from a feminist prospective, adaptations and new work, ghost stories, physical theatre, magical realism, clowning, and fart jokes.

I’m also the artistic director of Little Lion Theatre Company, a theatre company based in London who is focused on bringing Canadian theatrical works to the UK.

I’m also a dramaturg and love to work with writers on new script creation and development.
