I began my work in the arts as an actor performing in various theatres around the UK including Royal London Haymarket, Birmingham REP & Nottingham Playhouse to name but a few, as well as playing many prominent roles in film and TV. A few years later I began to combine acting with working as a drama facilitator & director.
Much of my work has been working with young people and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. I am a strong believer in the positive and transformative qualities that engagement in drama and the arts can bring for young people.
In a variety of educational & youth sectors I have over 15 years experience of delivering drama workshops. A large amount of my work is around improvising and devising , yet I also have considerable experience in script work also.
In 2019 I directed EASTSIDE STORY which was one of the core programmes as part of the Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture'19. The project saw myself and my team work with young people on two opposing housing estates before bringing them together to devise a brand new piece of theatre. The participents were from a variety of backdrops including Pupil Referral Units, Young offenders program and young carers. The whole process was documented by the BBC as one of Alan Yentobs 'Imagine...' series.
In 2014 I directed ANGELS by Pauline McLynn which was part of National Theatres Connections programme. The production was selected to perform at The National as part of Festival week.
