My name is Llyrio Boateng. I was born in Ghana. At the age of 11, my mother, myself and 3 siblings moved to The Uk to join my father, who, at the time had been living in London for over 15 years. After secondary school in East London, I enrolled at City & Islington College where I studied dance. I went on to become a professional dancer and worked for the likes of Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Rihanna and more.
After 3 years of dancing, I decided to hang up my dancing shoes and created a property company. Which I ran successfully for 5 years.
As a kid, I wrote ardently; created scenes using anyone who would allow me to place them in the world I created. I wrote everything from short stories to poetry.
As an adult, I’ve become a cinephile - with interest from 1966’s Who’s afraid of Virgin Woolf directed by Mike Nichols, Bonnie & Clyde dir by Arthur Penn to more recently, Call me by Your name dir by Luca Guadagnino & Get out dir by Jordan Peele. I also love the theatre - anything from ‘People, Places & Things’ to ‘Don Giovanni’.
After successful careers in the last 10 years, I have decided to be brave and pursue my ultimate dream as a writer, director and actor. I think it’s important for all directors to be on the other side of the camera so that they understand how actors like to be treated. Years of experience as a dancer will lend itself in the field of directing; I have an excellent understanding of the body and how it moves to make the interior world conceivable for audiences. And as an entrepreneur, I understand the business side of things such as finances; as delays caused by anyone involved would be an unnecessary expense. With my past endeavours, it has proven to me that I am great with people. Growing up in London, a very multicultural city, not only do I understand cultures, I respect them; this is important when telling stories of people from all walks of life.
