Samuel Skoog

Director

I am a European/Pakeha playwright, performer and theatre maker.

My two main areas of interest are myth/folktale and non-naturalist text, but I enjoy anything that concerns itself with our stories and the ways we tell them to each other, especially when the work interrogates their role in enforcing power structures. I don't begrudge happy endings but haven't found a playwright I love that makes excessive use of them. I also enjoy clowning/physical theatre and am hoping to expand my experience in this area.

Right now I want my work to discuss male mental health, mob mentality and environmental decay.

If you want to contact me you can call me 'Mr Skoog' if you like but I prefer 'Sam'.
