Theatre Director

I see theatre as an opportunity to bring people together and highlight the many injustices and absurdities in the lives we lead - political things like the rat-race of the capitalist system, financial inequalities, and a botched response to a pandemic - and universal things like mortality, sexuality, and the burden of having a body.
My theatre is visceral, gritty and unapologetic. My practise is text-based and I direct both new and old plays - I try to alternate.
I am committed to working on accessible performances. This is political as well as highly creative, considered from the very beginning of my creative process. I have experience directing integrated BSL for the Royal Shakespeare Company, writing closed captioning, and in access consultancy. In 2022 I was one of 50 women named by Women Beyond The Box as leading neurodivergent creatives in the UK.
My productions always have music and the auditory at their core, and I often make sound design for my own work. This has recently included for 'The Mozart Question', a play about the orchestra at Auschwitz, and '12', an intense two-hander about a toxic relationship as a metaphor for the climate crisis. I directed 12 for the Greenhouse Theatre, a zero-waste venue - giving me experience of making truly sustainable theatre: a practice I intend to continue in my work.
