Sophie de Vries

I am a 32 years old theatre maker/teacher and a movement director/teacher. I am originally from Amsterdam where I graduated in 2010 as a theatre maker and teacher specialised in making multidisciplinary and devised theatre with and for young people. Within that work there was an emphasis on collaboration with other artists and creating, together with the young people, a shared ownership over the work. Another important aspect of my work was the use of imagery and visuals and my love for scenography. In 2012 I started working in London as an assistant director and 'outside eye' for other artists. In 2016 I decided that I wanted to develop myself and I started the MA Movement: Directing and Teaching in London at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I graduated last December. After my graduation, I found out that I am now at a point in my career where I want to combine my experience as a theatre maker and director working with young people and the skills that I have gained during my MA Movement: Directing and Teaching.
