Oscar Fabres Martin

Oscar Fabres is a London based Spanish theatre director who graduated from the “Institut del Teatre” in Barcelona as a physical actor. That training gave him the chance to discover a different landscape of theatre, far away from the traditional sense of it, where words, movement, music, rhythm, colour, sound and image take the main role.

As an actor at the Drama School, he started training as an assistant director by acting as an apprentice to international theatre director Lluis Pasqual. After collaborating on a few of his productions, Oscar became an assistant director to him, working closely on his projects until present. He worked in National productions at Teatre Lliure and CDN and he also had the chance to tour with them during two years.

His experience as a director goes from traditional pieces of Federico García Lorca to new contemporary creations. The commitment in his own artistic perspective is one of his main mottos. As a director he believes in honest pieces of truth and minimalist atmospheres where poetry becomes the main character. His work is based in the exhaustive study (in all the possible ways) of the words that compose a script.
Oscar Fabres moved to London in September 2018 to keep learning and gaining experience from a new perspective and conception of theatre and art.

He is currently working with Kelly Hunter at the Flute Theatre company performing Shakespeare´s plays for and with people with autism.
