Gitika is a Queer British Indian director from Yorkshire, currently based in Manchester. She graduated from Liverpool in 2016 with a BA Hons in Drama & English. Winner of the JMK Trust Bursary 2017, she became resident Assistant Director to James Brining at Leeds Playhouse. She then went on to work for The Octagon Theatre in Bolton as their Participations Director where she was Assistant Director on main house productions and also directed all their youth theatre productions. Her most recent credit as Director was for Beyond Shame by Karim Khan, 2018 at Derby Theatre. She became the Artistic Associate of Birmingham Opera Company in Summer 2018. After one year in the post she moved on to work with the National Theatre & CAST, Doncaster on Public Acts 2020. In 2022, Gitika finished her tenure as Staff Director at The National Theatre. She has recently been appointed Regional Associate of Tamasha and has been the full time Artistic Associate of Birmingham Opera Company and Associate Director of LUNG Theatre Company. Gitika was picked to be one of Headlong Theatre's Origins Directors has recently won Best Online Audio Production at the Off West End Awards (2023) and her work on Tanika Gupta’s play, Love N Stuff was nominated for Best Stage Production at the Asian Media Awards (2022).
