Carolyn Defrin works across theatre, film and installation as a director, writer, performer. With an early career in Chicago, she worked with several ensemble theatres and now makes work internationally that mixes socially engaged practices with highly visual and physical design in both traditional and site specific venues. Particular interests include identity, migration, memory and intergenerational stories. She is currently a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Graz in Austria, developing work in border zones across the Southern European border.
