I have been involved in, and an avid fan of, the theatre from a very young age. It features in many aspects of my life. I happen to be an ordained priest and a lecturer, and my own research and contemplation of late has focused on acting teaching and the use of theatre for both interfaith spirituality and historical scholarship. In addition, I am particularly capable of adapting my teaching experience to consider the most effective ways of organising rehearsals. I also take part in wider national conversations about the teaching of drama in schools. Furthermore, I am the current chair of my local amateur stage society, for whom I have been a performer, writer and director. Theatre has the capacity to nourish the soul and to change us- and the world- for the better. Having recently taken part in a directing course, my desire to explore this role professionally has been renewed. I always relish the chance to think deeply about the theatre and its power. I look forward to using my interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to create and facilitate work that helps reveal new understandings about the world and each other. I believe that my background furnishes me with a valuable perspective as a director.
