Lucas Ho

Playwright Dramaturg Director Performer

I am a Singaporean writer, director, and educator; and an Associate Artist with Checkpoint Theatre in Singapore. I am currently based in London.

I personally am first and foremost interested in exploring the riches of language in performance. I love to dig into the poetry of speech for the stage: the granular aspects of how sounds and words coalesce to create meaning and emotions in spoken dialogue. This is not to say that I’m not interested in politics or social commentary, but as a playwright, I believe you absolutely have to have one hand firmly on the thematic, and the other just as assuredly on the linguistic.

I would love to work on boundary-breaking projects, and engage in more formal experimentation.
