Cecilia Thoden van Velzen
Theatremaker
Writer
Composer
Cecilia (She/Her) is a theatremaker, writer and composer from the Netherlands. She came to the UK to study at the Royal Conservatoire after finishing her directing degree at Toneelacademie Maastricht and was so charmed by Scotland’s cultural scene that she decided to make her art there.
In her work, Cecilia likes to build theatrical machines that evoke a sense of wonder and thrill through sound. She’s focused on the musicality of noise and approaches performance like she would composition. She loves the absurd, the puzzle, the unseen, and the underdog.
