Iris Athanasiadi
Choreographer
Performer
Movement Director
Iris Athanasiadi (she/her) is a Greek architect, choreographer and performer based in London, UK. Her work focuses on researching common threads between architecture and choreography, mindfulness and multi-sensory experiences. Her purpose is to create experiences that enhance the body’s sensory awareness and facilitate a poetic exchange between the body and the world, challenging the ocularcentric culture of today’s western world.
Starting from the body as the first space we experience, her methodology considers movement as a space-crafting activity; an ephemeral space formed by connecting our movement traces as we navigate the world. She has given a TEDx talk, performed at Tate Modern (UK) and her work has been experienced at the Royal Academy of Music (UK), Athens Video Dance Festival (GR), Ugly Duck (UK), Stone Nest (UK), John Lyons Theatre (UK) and is supported by the Arts Council England.
