Ariella Como Stoian

Writer Playwright Queer new-writing Director Dramaturg Immersive, interactive theatre-maker

My name is Ariella (they/she) and I'm an early-career playwright and theatre-maker from Romania, Australia, Italy and now the UK, based in London. I create work through a queer, intersectional lens to express joyful, imaginative, sometimes fantastical stories.
I often explore themes of care, loss/grief, gender, kinship and love, informed by my own experiences as a chronically ill artist.

I'm vitally interested in experimental and playful storytelling, speculative fictions and genre work (whatever that means), seeing magic on stage and in multi-disciplinary co-creation.

I come from a dramaturgical and new writing background, so I have previously been very story led. However, I am now developing a practice that incorporates game design, interactivity, immersion, LARP, and compositionally driven collaboration, re-considering the placement of story and text.
