Tomaž is a theatre and film director based in London but working internationally. He has been involved with theatre for over 15 years and is currently a core member of Brief Palava theatre company.
After finishing a psychology undergraduate course at the University of Ljubljana, he applied to MA Classical and Contemporary Text at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he recently graduated in theatre directing. He has directed many publicly and critically acclaimed shows, including The Pillowman, which became the first play in the 54-year history of the Linhart Festival to receive all four awards (Best Play, Best Direction, two acting awards). An authorial version of Macbeth was also a big success. For it, he received a special award for original directorial ideas at the same festival.
More recently, he's been working as a director and assistant director in the UK. In May 2022 he led a successful London tour of a new writing piece Flightpath which was positively reviewed by various papers, including The Stage, London Theatre 1, British Theatre Guide...
He has directed four films, three short films and a longer documentary film. His first film, Broken Memories (Razbiti spomini), was selected for the competition part of the 15th Festival of Slovenian Film, and his last film, Control Panel (Nadzorna plošča), came third in the Muvit film marathon. His latest film-related project was a very successful web series Dualism (Dualizem), which broadcasted online at www.dualizem.com.
