My name is Martha Godber( she/her) and I am an actor, writer & director from Hull.
I have trained at both the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, graduating with a first class honours degree in Acting in 2018.
Since graduating I have worked extensively as a professional actor and theatre maker. Credits include Teechers Leavers ’22 (Hull Truck Theatre), Home Girl (Derby Theatre), Right (The Old Vic), The Full Monty Series (Disney+), Shake the City (Leeds Playhouse), Moby Dick (John Godber Company) & POP (Oldham Coliseum). Most recently I have been drawn towards work as a Movement Director working with Jermyn Street Theatre and Movement Directing and assistant directing extensively for the John Godber Company.
I am interested in developing my work as a Movement Director, Theatre Director and writer working with young people from underprivileged backgrounds, enabling me to give a voice to those who do not feel like they have one in the arts.
Aside from professional creative work I am CEO & founder of The Godber Theatre Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting under-represented students from Hull and East Yorkshire to make their way in the arts industry, offering them finical aid, mentorship and professional experiences.
