Simona Hughes

Director Writer Performer

I am an award-nominated theatre director based in London. I am also a 'late starter' with a previous career in Psychotherapy, Child Mental Health and Play Therapy. As a multi-disciplinary, collaborative theatre-maker, my key passions are text/subtext, relationship dynamics, imagery and movement.
I like to create a playful, inclusive atmosphere in the rehearsal room, characterised by generosity, patience and trust.
I am co-artistic director at Moving Parts Theatre Company, an outdoor touring company. I was co-artistic director for 3 years at the Tower Theatre, a volunteer-run, community theatre in Stoke Newington (teamed by a range of professionals, semi professionals and non-professionals). I have worked as a theatre educator and workshop leader in a range of settings.
