Natalie Simone

Theatre Director

Hi! I'm Natalie (Nat) a British-Italian Theatre Director from The Midlands.

I originally trained as an Actor at East 15 before completing my Masters in Directing at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. I have worked extensively across the UK and internationally as a theatre-maker.

In 2023 I directed ‘The Ugly One’ by Marius von Mayenburg at The Hope Theatre where I was nominated for Best Director in the Off West End Awards. I am a supported artist by Sheffield Theatres, the Bristol Old Vic and have been a Jerwood Assistant Director at the Young Vic.

Much of my work is influenced by European theatre. I direct new writing and classics, whatever feels right. I trained as an actor in Lecoq & Gaulier where all the work was created by us, the ensemble. I’d like to create more devised work, specifically looking at stories centring around the female experience in unexpected ways.

My work has a liveness to it, making you feel alive. It fizzes and shakes you but it is ultimately very playful and often filled with humour. I like to play with form and challenge conventional approaches to storytelling using movement, music, visual art, dance and performance.
