Evan Barker

(he/him) I'm a graduating actor; from the BA Acting Course at East 15 Acting School. I'm originally from a working class family in Swansea, South Wales. Although I have trained as an actor and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to do so, I have managed to gain an insight into the world of directing and often also find my passion in producing and creating my own work.
The year before I started at drama school, I wrote/produced/directed my first play in Swansea when I was 18, titled "the State Of It" in the Volcano Theatre in Swansea (Volcano UK.) Since, I was invited to directed an original one act play in Cardiff, written by an all female identifying cast in Llanover Arts Centre.
I have recently been a part of launching a new production company with four other East 15 graduates, where I have taken on directorial roles in short film, showreel duologues and audio drama.
As a director, I'm most drawn to new writing and bold ideas. Gritty drama and dark comedy. The stuff that you almost want to shy away from in the moment but you just can't because of how genuine the circumstances are. I prefer working with intimate casts (10 or less) but have more recently had experience with larger numbers. (more than 10.)
Without the real means to have any further training in directing, I want to pick up as much experience; where I can and see fit, still at a younger age.
