Industry Mapping and Business Support for Freelance Directors

Thursday 6 August

5.30pm – 7.30pm

The theatre industry - along with dance, music and live events - is in an unprecedented moment of uncertainty and change, because of the challenges posed by Covid-19.

Join freelance director Jo Tyabji for a careful, honest and tender session in which the group will:

  • pool knowledge and understanding of the industry to assess how it is changing, where opportunities are contracting, and where there may be opportunities for growth (like outdoor performances, radio, interactive work)
  • audit skills, share assets and create actions that will allow artists to turn towards where there is opportunity, both within the industry and looking beyond it
  • deepen understanding of the business model theatre operates on in a business as usual scenario, and innovate business models that freelance theatre directors could shift towards

This is a chance to see yourself as the instigator of work; in a supportive space to think about opportunities that reframe how you engage as an artist with the wider industry.
